TIGERS TRIUMPH IN JUNIOR KITTED CLASSIC
PT 2

Throughout the day there was a series of entertaining games, with the Panthers just missing out on the final play offs, having been edged out by the Tigers on a points differential between common opponents.

Having recorded their first victory over the Falcons in Sheffield at the last tournament, the Tigers were given fare warning that they were in for a much tougher ride this time, when they were on the receiving end of a 33-6 demolition by Clyde Valley earlier in the day.

But the Tigers did have an edge over the Falcons, coming into the final game on the back of a game against one of the Inverness sides, where as with one of the other teams, scratching off their final game, the Falcons has to watch from the sidelines waiting for the Tigers to finish.

Despite coming into the game cold, the Falcons came out with all guns blazing at the start when Blake Kyle powered though the middle, breaking a couple of challenges for the opening touchdown.

The Tigers hit back on their next drive when Shand sped down the far side into the endzone to tie the scoring.

Kyle continued to torment the home rear guard, but it was Graeme Macmillan who put the Falcons back in front weaving his way through for another touchdown, with Mark Wynter adding a successful one point conversion attempt.

And with less than four minute of the half remaining, the Tigers tied things up again when Scott Macintosh run in an excellent touchdown, but gave his team mates a tough task on the extra point attempt when he was penalised for over celebrating his score.

Despite the extra yardage, the Tigers were one target when Quarterback Alan Steen, under pressure, managed to unload a pass to Andrew Burns for a longer than normal one point conversion.

Then with less than 90 seconds of the half remaining, the Falcons edged back in front after Colin Nichol punished some hesitant Glasgow defending, nipping through for another touchdown.

The Tigers sharpened their claws during the half time break and took the game to Clyde Valley at the start of the second half with the Tigers levelling the scoring again with another great run by Shand, cutting inside for another score.

The Falcons then soon found themselves in trouble on their first play in the new drive when heavy defensive pressure resulted in a two point safety for the Tigers.

With the minutes now ticking way, the Tigers had their confidence dented when a beautiful spin move by Macmillan, sent the young receiver with a clear run to the endzone, putting the Falcons four points in front.

With two minutes of the game remaining, there was still time for the Tigers to rescue the game.

Backed by their enthusiastic support, the Glasgow side slowly moved their way up towards the goal line.

And with 34 seconds of the game remaining, they pulled it off in dramatic fashion when Burns scored the decisive touchdown, with Shand adding the 2 point
conversion to give the Tigers a memorable victory.
